New Adult & Teen Classes

There’s an exciting lineup of classes available in the RAA, take a look at what’s starting soon by clicking on this link.

New Adult/Youth Classes coming in March

  • Ed Sotello will be returning to teach Watercolor on Thursday evenings in March (4th).  Ed is a retired art teacher and head of the department at Yucaipa High School.  He is inspiring and is so good at helping you individually.  Bring your own supplies–WC paper, paint of choice, and brushes.
  • Does drawing with perspective make you crazy and frustated?  John Lapi has the solution. His class will be an introduction to the understanding of the principles of 1 & 2 point perspective drawing.  He is an experienced teacher in this field and will help you create a more visually appealing piece of art. His classes begin on Tuesday March 16 at 12:30–2:00.  Bring a large sketch pad, drawing pencil, and felt tip pens.
  • Many of you have been asking for a photography class.   Melissa O’Donnell will be starting a class on March 6 from 10:30–noon at the Gallery.  On the following 4 Saturdays, Melissa will take you outside to "shoot" the beauty of Redlands. For her first class you need to bring the camera you plan to use in the class.  Come prepared with notepad, camera, tripod? (optional), and comfortable shoes for walking.

3 New Youth & Adult Classes Starting Soon

  • Teen Mania with Gloria Steinweg is now on Thursdays from 6-7:30pm and will be "Going to the Movies" with their art. (Talking about different stars, their influence in clothes design, color, etc.) This will be a very unique, fun class for youth, 10 to 14 years. Classes begin November 19-January 7 (5 classes).
  • Katy Jo Lorenz, our newest teacher, will be teaching a two-part class in “Metal Clay”, on two Monday nights, December 7 & 14 from 6-7:30 pm. This is such a different class–easy, beautiful results, quick. On the first class you make your pendant, it is then fired to "lose" the clay and the second class you polish and finish. The results are amazing. Great for gifts for Xmas, birthdays, or whatever.
  • Our fabulous figure drawer and painter, Ann Bingham-Freeman, will be offering a "Life Drawing/Figure painting class" from January 10-February 21 (Sunday afternoon-5 sessions). She will be inviting live models to the class. This will prove to be a great experience for all.

Students from the class “Classic Landscapes” taken at the Redlands Art Association were awarded blue ribbons as a class. Congratulations to these students who entered the Recycled artwork, to the Rialto Recycled Show. The group won as a “class” in September. The names of Ms. Steinweg’s students who received the awards are: Blake S., Ryan T., Kayla S., Kilie W., and Rachel S.! They used recycled art materials such as cardboard, string, plastic, cereal boxes, bubble wrap, and more. The kids were very proud of their awards, so congratulations again!
